Boardwalk Goes PINK for Breast Cancer 2021

Friday, Oct 1 | 4:11 PM

Each night throughout October, the Boardwalk at Towne Lake will glow with pink lights in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The initiative is sponsored by Houston Methodist and helps promote the early detection of breast cancer, states a news release. According to the American Cancer Society, approximately “one in eight women in the U.S. will develop invasive breast cancer during their lifetime,” and the best way to ensure early detection is regular mammograms and breast exams.

“Our hope is The Boardwalk becomes a beacon of community inspiration while calling attention to the importance of taking action to detect breast cancer at an early stage,” Jennifer Symons, vice president of marketing for Caldwell Companies, developer of The Boardwalk at Towne Lake, said in the press release.

“We are proud to support this campaign at the Boardwalk at Towne Lake and encourage all women to focus on their overall health and well-being this October,” said Dr. Latricia Thompson, a physician specializing in obstetrics and gynecology.
