HOCKLEY, TX (April 13, 2022) – Boys and Girls Country, a Christian nonprofit that provides secure, stable housing for children from families in crisis, celebrated the addition of a new Executive Director’s House to its 200-acre campus in Hockley, thanks to Caldwell Homes and the Hamill Foundation.

The newest addition is a recently completed onsite home for Boys and Girls Country Chief Executive Officer Vincent Duran and his family of four. Built by Caldwell Homes and funded by the Hamill Foundation, the new home was dedicated at a recent ribbon-cutting ceremony where officials joined the Duran family for the first tour.
“Simply amazing,” exclaimed a jubilant Vincent Duran. “Living onsite at Boys and Girls Country makes all the difference in the world, both in terms of overseeing the operation but also connecting with our children. We’re grateful to Caldwell Homes and the Hamill Foundation for making this possible. It’s a wonderful gift for the community.”

The new home provides a venue for Duran to host functions for donors and board members as well as events and activities for the 66 children who reside at the 200-acre working ranch. The open-concept floor plan includes a spacious family room, large kitchen, much-needed home office space and a second-floor game room for their two young boys. The new onsite residence is part of an ongoing transformation at Boys and Girls Country, where four of the program’s eleven cottages have been replaced with new, spacious homes spanning 8,500 SF.  Eight children live in each cottage with Teaching Parents who raise them to become self-sustaining and contributing adults. As primary caregivers, these parents help the children get ready for school, prepare meals, assist students with homework and manage their extracurricular activities. The Christian environment at Boys and Girls Country supports the children as they learn and grow, provides them with educational and emotional resources, holds them accountable to their peers and the greater community and encourages them to dream and achieve goals.

“This organization has been on my heart for a long time, and it’s an honor to play a small part in supporting their mission,” says Susan Caldwell of Caldwell Companies. “Our hope is that this home is a vessel for the work being done at Boys and Girls Country and provides many happy memories for the Duran family.”

Now in its 51st year, the privately-funded organization has given a stable, loving home to more than 1,600 children in need. In 2021, 83 children and young adults from families in crisis found a home at Boys & Girls Country. To learn more about supporting Boys and Girls Country, go to www.boysandgirlscountry.org.
