Construction on the long-awaited Greenhouse Road expansion and underpass connection beneath Highway 290 is officially set to begin in February 2026. This pivotal infrastructure project will complete a vital half-mile connection between Greenhouse Road and Skinner Road in Cypress— significantly improving mobility and reducing congestion for drivers who currently rely on Barker Cypress Road and Fry Road to reach Hwy 290. 

The project, which will extend Greenhouse Road under both Highway 290 and the existing rail line, represents a major advancement for northwest Houston’s transportation network. Once complete, this corridor will enhance regional access and support future growth in one of the fastest-developing areas in Greater Houston.
